Bagir Manan: The Press As a Solution For The Islamic Umat

JAKARTA (Jurnalislam.com) – Former Chairman of the Press Council, Prof. Bagir Manan, has said the Islamic press should be a solution for the people. Becaus one of the functions of ‘the press’ in Indonesia is required for citizens welfare.

“I urge the Islamic press to have real and idealistic soludtions that ensures goodness,” he said in the Workshop on Islamic Media Literacy Standards Online at Hotel Lumire, Jakarta, Friday (21/4/2017). That according to him, the Islamic media has not yet shown the true face of Islam and it is still difficult to convince people that Islam is a place of goodness. This is because, the Islamic media is still immature in understanding certain issues.

The Islamic press in addition to presenting reliable reports, it is also imperative to be able to improve the state of the ummah. “The Islamic press is an important part of improving the quality of life for Muslims,” said the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Prof. Bagir Manan attended as a speaker on the second day of standard Worshop event ‘Literasi Media Islam’ which was orginised by Bimas Kemenag.
