Revision of Anti-Terrorism Law in Indonesia

JAKARTA (Jurnalislam.com) – National Police chief Tito Karnavian sees the need to revise the Anti-Terrorism Act soon. This view he conveyed in the talk show “Rosi” which aired on Kompas TV, Thursday (05/26/2017) night.
Tito also explained things that have not been regulated in the Anti-Terrorism Act covering prevention and deradicalisation.
“Especially in this action there is something to be strengthened, such as, criminalizing the initial actions before the occurrence of terrorism” replied Tito.
Tito’s used the example i’dad, it will include criminal acts.
“I’dad it is training, no jihad without i’dad. This training ‘idad’ is well armed, at the time perpatrators arrested in Aceh. Now they are even smarter, mountain training cams use of airsoft guns, wooden simulation pistols, What is his law with regards to this ? “Tito asked, because the law now has not set.
“Their goal is actually to do i’dad for the preparation of terrorist operations.
So therefore must become a criminalized act”he asserted. Tito further provided another example for revision in anti-terrorism laws, the police must make a list of organizations belonging to terrorism groups and for anyone who joined the organization can be processed by law.
“For example Jamaah Ansharut Daula (ISIS) is defined as an organization of terrorism, so that all criminalized acts of anyone who joins or supports JAD.
So joining JAD they can caught and legaly processed “. He said ,As already known, after the Kampung Melayu bomb incident, President Joko Widodo also urged the discussion on the revision of the Anti-Terrorism Act to be resolved soon. Anti-Terrorism Law will be expected to facilitate law enforcers in acting and application of prevention efforts.
